Area Rugs and
Carpets
Area Rugs come in many
different sizes and colors. There are many uses for area rugs
in your home. You can use area rugs to protect your hard wood
floors, for warmth, or as a factor in your décor. Rugs can
protect your carpeting in heavy use areas making it last
longer. You can also use rugs to divide or highlight sections
of your home.
Area rugs are very versatile
and can be relocated from one room to another as needed. They
are inexpensive as compared to buying a new carpet every time
you decide to change the décor. Changing your area rug is
matter of rolling it up and putting it down some where else.
And if you don't need it, you can store it in a dry area where
mold won'r grow on it. Later you can place it somewhere
else.
Cleaning an area
rug depends on the size. Some of these rugs can be put into
a commercial size washer to be cleaned. It might be easier to
use a rug shampooer. If you have made the decision to rent a
steam cleaning machine and do the job yourself, you should
check on several systems before you make a selection. If your
rug is on top of the carpet and needs to be cleaned, clean it
before it gets the carpet dirty.
When buying an area rug, first
decide which room or area it is going to be in to determine the
best size. From there choose the colors, the weave or material
before making the final decision. You can also purchase area
rugs to fit your room wall to wall so it can be removed without
creating a big mess and save money by storing it for future
use.
Selecting a pattern and style
you like is another decision. Area rugs come in many patterns
and styles, like Oriental, Indian, Persian, Contemporary,
Modern and Traditional. If you already have a certain type or
style of furniture then you’ll probably want to match that
style in the rug. Sometime people like a contrast though and a
nice Oriental rug can go with modern furniture surprisingly
well. Some people buy their rug first and then the furnishings
to match the rug.
If there are enough rug and
carpet stores in your neighborhood- get samples of the
different textures and colors, and take them home. Taking
samples home to put together the color and style is best,
because not all colors match or look the same when you get them
home.
The lighting in your home is
different than that of the store. Colors look different in a
store with the florescent lights. By taking home the samples
you’ll be able to see how the color will look with your own
lighting along with the natural light that you’ll get during
the day. Not all rooms get the same natural light from outside
depending on the location and number of windows you
have.
If you are having a hard time
finding what you want; check on the Internet for more
information on colors and styles. Some stores on the Internet will send you
samples of the colors and textures that you are trying to
decide on. Most Internet stores will also have a toll free
number that you can call to ask questions.
Buying a good rug can be a
major investment. Increase the value and warmth of your home by
purchasing the right one. The floors are usually what people
see first when they walk into your home. A high-quality rug
creates a good mood in a room. Light carpets and rugs will make
a room look larger and airier, while dark colors can make it
look cozier.
Take your time before deciding
on the rug you want to purchase. Spend your money on something
you’ll like and enjoy.
